A finalist in Jen's Top 10 Korean Sunscreens (2021) and Best of Beauty Skincare Awards (2021), this is a broad-spectrum chemical sunscreen that is so light and blendable you could mistake it as an essence.. as the name suggests! With purified water as its first ingredient, this Scinic sunscreen is free of endocrine disrupting ingredients (see 'Note' below), artificial fragrance, colorant, parabens, harsh alcohols, mineral oils and GMO-ingredients, making it perfect for those in search of a clean sunscreen suitable even for sensitive, irritated or 'heaty' skin.
This product has triple-functional hydrating benefits made up of 60% being a hydrating essence to replenish the skin (centella asiatica, niacinamide, panthenol, adenosine) and 7 plant-based extracts (eg. bamboo water, camellia and vanilla leaf extracts) which help to moisturize, cool, calm and soothe the skin whilst providing brightening effects and the moisture helping to improve the appearance of wrinkles. Talk about multi-functional!
Proven to cool the skin temperature by 3.55 degrees, Jen recommends this sunscreen for everyone, but in particular those looking for one with a superbly light, barely-there skincare-like texture. Being a light watery lotion which blends and absorbs easily, it is suitable for all skin types, particularly those who prefer a soothing and refreshing feeling.
The formula is non-fragranced, leaves no white cast or thick/greasy layer, and is easily layered under makeup.
However, this is not a matte or velvet/satin finish, so best for those who don't mind a slightly dewy, moisturized finish.
how to use
Apply after skincare, 15-20 mins prior to to sun exposure. Be sure to apply an adequate amount on all areas expected to be exposed to UV rays.
Note: Contains polysilicone-15. Does not contain artificial fragrance, harsh alcohols, colorants, parabens, animal ingredients, sulfates, sensitizing essential oils, mineral oils, zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, GMO ingredients, or (and most importantly!) endocrine-disrupting ingredients such as oxybenzone, benzophenone, octinoxate, avobenzone, octisalate, homosalate, octrocrylene, etc.
Due to the above, this sunscreen is relatively safe for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding. However, for such people, Jen's recommendation would be to go all the way and opt for a physical sunscreen if possible, since chemical sunscreens work on the basis of ingredients absorbing into the skin, whilst physical sunscreens physically sit atop the skin without absorbing into the bloodstream. x
